[ PROJECT SUMMARY ]

British multidisciplinary artist Shezad Dawood created Cascade, two monumental ceramic panels for the facade of the Gaumont Cinema on The Kings Road in Chelsea. Shezad’s practice combines streams of ideas which he draws upon here – Vivienne Westwood’s ‘Sex Boutique’, JMW Turner, King Charles II, Georges Méliès ‘A Trip To the Moon’, all appear in his vast and varied influences for the work.

Commissioned by Wallpaper* and documented across five different trips to Shezad’s studio, Darwen Terracotta  in Blackburn and the site in Chelsea, this film sees Shezad’s work go from concept to realised work, now standing over Chelsea for years to come.
